North Devon

Back

North Devon is ideal for a quiet and peaceful holiday

There are dozens of interesting beaches nearby. The wide golden sands of Woolacombe & Croyde are renowned for surfing. Saunton Sands backs onto a Nature Reserve with 100' high dunes. Ilfracombe beach is reached by a tunnel through the rocks...

There are many sporting activities available including surfing, sailing, cycling, golf, horse-riding, shooting, quad trials, coarse fishing, sea fishing and diving. Take a trip in the only sea-going paddle steamer in the world, or visit wild Lundy Island - the site of 137 shipwrecks (so far!).

Explore the winding lanes of North Devon, the setting for 'Tarka the Otter' and 'Lorna Doone'. The warm climate fosters an abundance of exotic plants and wildlife - supposedly even pumas! Enjoy one of the many garden or heritage sites - and don't forget to try a Devon clotted cream tea!

Visit the many interesting towns and villages, such as steep-cobbled Clovelly or Lynton & Lynmouth, which are linked by a water-powered railway. Other places to visit include wildlife parks, steam railways, a zoo and even a collection of military vehicles.
