North
Devon is ideal for a quiet and peaceful holiday
There
are dozens of interesting beaches nearby. The wide golden sands of Woolacombe
& Croyde are renowned for surfing. Saunton Sands backs onto a Nature
Reserve with 100' high dunes. Ilfracombe beach is reached by a tunnel
through the rocks... |
There are many sporting activities
available including surfing, sailing, cycling, golf, horse-riding,
shooting, quad trials,
coarse fishing, sea fishing and diving. Take a trip in the only sea-going paddle
steamer in the world, or visit wild Lundy Island - the site of 137
shipwrecks (so far!).
|
|
Explore
the winding lanes of North Devon, the setting for 'Tarka the Otter' and
'Lorna Doone'. The warm climate fosters an abundance of exotic plants and
wildlife - supposedly even pumas! Enjoy one of the many garden or heritage
sites - and don't forget to try a Devon clotted cream tea! |
Visit
the many interesting towns and
villages, such as steep-cobbled Clovelly or Lynton & Lynmouth, which
are linked by a water-powered railway. Other places to visit include wildlife parks, steam railways, a
zoo and even a collection of military
vehicles.
